Debi Scaggs

  • Stated that “women still desire men to, and need men to, stand up for them and protect them because we are the weaker sex” (12/13/2022 board meeting)

Terry Senne

  • Believes she is in a battle and that is has only just begun in order to return schools to their “original purposes” (5/16/2023 public forum speech)
  • Believes “Schools have long since left the traditional Godly values and principles upon which our country was founded.” (Senne election website).
  • Believes “Denton ISD performance in academics is suffering greatly” and does not believe there have been any “substantive solutions that have been provided to improve student academic performance over time” (3/28/2023 public forum speech)
  • “Academic performance, particularly in reading, writing, and mathematics, is dismal at best, and continues in a downward trend” (Senne election website)
  • Wants the inclusion of “classics” in book collections and consequences put in place for district employees use or includes books that she deems inappropriate (5/16/2023 public forum speech)
